Carpet cleaning tips and conservation

CARPET CLEANING tIPS

He is having dinner at home calmly with his glass of wine in hand, and in oversight, the glass falls, and a large burgundy stain on his carpet becomes the protagonist of the decoration of your dining room. Horror! What do we do in these cases?

Do not worry; in this article, we will explain how to preserve your carpets, whether they are wool, vegetable fibers or synthetic, so that they look just as shiny and elegant as the first day.

carpet cleaning

CARE AND CARPET CLEANING TIPS AND CONSERVATION

In general, the first thing to keep in mind is that it is normal for a carpet, whether made of wool or synthetic fibers, to shed lint the first days of use. It is advisable in these cases to remove it daily for 7-15 days for synthetic fibers and 3-4 weeks for wool (depending on the model, maybe a little longer), sweeping with a soft broom and in the direction of the direction. Of the hair.

Now, if a carpet is stained, it is crucial to follow the following steps, in general:

1. Immediately clean the stain. Avoid drying out. If it is solid or dry, brush it off to try to descale as much as possible.

2. Make a color test in a corner or in the least visible area of the carpet with the cleaning product you will use. If it is solid, apply the product in the area of the stain pressing with an absorbent cloth and without rubbing.

3. Then apply warm water with a sponge pressing without rubbing.

4.  Important: after cleaning, dry the carpet thoroughly with absorbent cloths or a dryer at a gentle temperature.

5. Gently brush the area that was stained to re-lift the pile from the carpet.

Do not treat latex-backed or rubber-backed carpets with solvents unless they are small and very superficial stains. The liquid mustn’t penetrate the base or structure of the rug.

If, after following the steps mentioned above, the stain has not been cleaned, it may be a more specific stain than the wine we were talking about at the beginning. Coffee, chocolate, milk or nail polish stains, among others, are more difficult to remove … but not impossible.

Wool Rugs

If the stain is oil, grease, butter, wax, cosmetic cream, bitumen, tar or ballpoint ink, use a dry cleaning solvent (alcohol, benzine, gasoline, perchloroethylene, etc …).

Applying with a cloth and brushing gently afterwards. From outside, the stain inwards.

For stains such as coffee, tea, milk, cocoa, chocolate, ice cream, egg, blood, sauces and vomit, first use water with detergent and vinegar and then dry cleaning solvent. Applying with a cloth and brushing gently afterwards. From outside, the stain inwards.

If the stain is from candy, fruit, juice, soda, beer, wine or liquor, you can remove it with soapy water and vinegar. Applying with a cloth and brushing gently afterwards. From outside, the stain inwards.

For gum stains, lipstick, coloured pencils, paints, washable ink, urine or excrement, proceed as follows:

1º Use solvent for dry cleaning.

2º Then use water with detergent and vinegar with damp cloths.

3º Add solvent again.

When the stain is due to nail polish, you should use acetone.

While if the stain is mud, you should apply water with ammonia once dry and scraped off.

Remember always to use damp cloths. It is important not to soak the base or structure of the carpet.

Synthetic fibers

Polypropylene and polyester rugs are synthetic fiber rugs, the most widely used today for both classic rugs and modern rugs.

That is why we dedicate a section to you in this special on difficult stains.

This is what you will have to do depending on the stain you have to treat.

– Coffee, oil and wine: absorb the liquid with blotting paper. Clean with warm water and detergent.

– Lipstick, shoe cream: Clean with water and shampoo without spreading the stain. Rinse with warm water and detergent.

– Nail polish: absorb the liquid with blotting paper. Clean with a rag soaked in acetone.

– Milk: absorb the liquid with blotting paper. Clean with water, detergent and vinegar.

– Chocolate: absorb with blotting paper without spreading the stain. Clean with liquid soap, pressing with a cloth. Rinse with water and detergent.

– Makeup: absorb the liquid with blotting paper. Clean with liquid soap. Rinse with a cloth dampened with water.

– Paint, marker: Rub with acetone or white spirit. Rinse with water and detergent.

Vegetal fibers

To maintain good maintenance on vegetable fiber rugs, vacuuming is sufficient.

Also, occasionally, you can use a clean mop, well wrung out with water and neutral soap, so that the carpet regains its lost shine.

But to act before a minor “domestic accident” in which more specific stains occur, here are some cleaning instructions :

Blood: Put a fifth of a neutral soap in a glass, a small jet of ammonia, another vinegar, and fill with warm water.

– Butter, Wax: In a glass, fill one fifth with mild soap and a small stream of vinegar with warm water.

– Vomit: Once dry, scratch and vacuum. Then mix a little ammonia with warm water in a glass of water and wipe it over the stain with a warm cloth.

– Chocolate, jam, honey: Add a little ammonia to a glass of warm water.

Drinks: Prepare a fifth of neutral soap and a little vinegar in a glass of warm water.

– Coffee, tea, egg: In a glass of cold water, mix one fifth with neutral soap and add a small splash of vinegar or ammonia.

– Chewing gum: Apply anti-gum product.

– Nail polish, glue: Apply acetone or alcohol

– Lipstick: In a glass of warm water, add a fifth of neutral soap.

– Paint: In a glass of warm water, add a fifth of neutral soap. After cleaning, allow to dry, scratch and vacuum.

– Mud: After drying, scratching and vacuuming, apply a mixture in a glass of warm water with a small stream of ammonia.

– Red wine: Act immediately with a 50% vinegar solution with water.

– Grease: Pass an absorbent paper over the remains, apply alcohol and let it evaporate. In a glass of warm water, add a fifth of neutral soap and a small splash of vinegar.

Finally, absorb as much moisture as possible with cloths or napkins and then brush the fabric again to remove any residue.

Cleaning Tips for Acrylic Carpets

The acrylic fiber was one of the first to be used to mimic wool fibers. With it, very vivid colours are achieved. If you want them to stay just as vibrant as the first day and for a stubborn stain not to spoil your colourful rug, follow these steps:

– For coffee and milk stains: absorb the liquid with blotting paper. Clean with water, detergent and vinegar. Clean with dry foam. Brush in the direction of the hair.

– If the stain is oil: absorb the liquid with blotting paper. Clean with dry foam. Clean with liquid soap. Rinse with a damp cloth.

– In the case of lipstick stains, shoe cream: Clean with paper without spreading the stain. Clean with liquid soap, pressing with a cloth. Rinse with water.

– If the stain is nail polish: Clean with a cloth soaked in acetone. Clean with dry foam. Brush.

– When it comes to wine stains: absorb the liquid with blotting paper. Clean with water, detergent and vinegar.

– If the stain is chocolate, make-up: absorb the liquid with blotting paper. Clean with liquid soap by pressing with a cloth. Clean with dry foam. Brush.

– Regarding paint stains, marker: Rub with acetone or white spirit. Rinse with water, detergent and vinegar.

Hopefully, this article has been helpful to you.

Remember that it is also advisable to have the carpet professionally cleaned at least once a year so that the carpet is cleaned more profoundly and thus it can last longer than the first day.

How to Keep an Odor-Free Mattress

Sleep is one of life’s most crucial factors. We spend one-third of our lives sleeping as a species. We don’t spend a lot of time investing in the upkeep of our bed places, given that it’s such a small percentage. Our bodies create more body odors when we sleep, such as sweat, drool, and other physiological fluids continuously seeping into our bedding.

It is critical to understand how to keep your mattress odor-free. This is because poor bed hygiene can create issues when sleeping, making you dissatisfied, weary, and unrested. In our mattress care guide, we’ve included standard cleaning activities to add to your routine, as well as a few methods for “freshening up” your sleeping habitat.

Tasks to Include in Your Regular Cleaning Routine

You may be asking why you would want to add MORE tedious cleaning tasks to your to-do list. Our expert mattress cleaners frequently emphasize that, in the long run, incorporating a few 10-minute activities into your routine may save you time, money, and sleep. When you ignore your mattress, many dust and body smell develop over time, attracting mites. Not only that, but improper hygiene might affect your sleep.

• This may seem simple, but changing your bedclothes regularly is essential for a good night’s sleep. It is advised that you exercise at least once or twice a week.

• Once a month, vacuum your mattress. When we sleep, we lose many dead skin cells, and dust builds quickly under those covers.

• Every six months, flip your mattress. This will assist in preventing one-sided degradation and will keep your mattress fresh for a longer period.

How to Keep Your Mattress Odor-Free

Our expert cleaners have compiled brief advice on how to keep your mattress odor-free. If you follow this simple process once a month, it will help keep your bed fresh and your nights restful.

Check out our House Cleaning, Office Cleaning, Commercial Cleaning Service In Quebec, Canada.

Here is a list of items you should prepare:

• A Vacuum

• 100g bicarbonate of soda and 100g cornstarch

• Essential oils (optional).

Now that you’ve gathered your mattress maintenance tools, let’s get started:

1. The first step is to remove your bedclothes and vacuum the top side of the mattress (you can worry about the bottom side when you next flip it).

2. Get your soda bicarb and cornstarch and combine them.

3. Sprinkle the dry component all over the surface of your mattress and let it sit for an hour. If your bed has an odor problem, consider leaving it for a few hours.

4. It’s time to vacuum. Make certain that you suck up all of the little particles. Because of their tiny size, the soda bicarb and cornstarch operate as a dry substance that may get between the fibers of your mattress. They absorb a lot of odors and microorganisms as a result. That is how it contributes to better mattress hygiene.

5. You may now add 20-30 drops of your preferred essential oils. Lavender is an excellent choice for a restful night’s sleep.

Vacuuming regularly

Dirt, dust, and debris find their way into our home quite easily. When you come in from the outside, or even when you open a window or door. Dirt collects deep into the fibers of your carpet, and vacuuming regularly is one of the most efficient ways to remove it. At least once a week for the entire property and 2-3 times a week for high usage areas – hallways, living looms, etc.

Spills should be cleaned up immediately

When a spill occurs, dealing with it as soon as possible eliminates the need to employ any harmful chemical products. The first step is to eliminate any excess moisture that has remained in your carpet. After that, clean the area with hand soap and water or one of the following common home product combinations: To remove oil, use salt or cornstarch; for coffee, red wine, or juice stains, use club soda. If you have a foul odor, sprinkle baking soda evenly on the afflicted area, wait 5-10 minutes, and then vacuum it up. A combination of 1 part distilled white vinegar, and 3 parts water works well for most stains and is a safe and environmentally friendly alternative to chemical products.

Detergent-Free Steam Cleaning

If you followed the suggestions above, you would need simple water to steam clean your carpets and rugs. The boiling water will loosen the built-in filth, allowing it to be readily sucked away. Because hot steam destroys germs, no detergent is required. You may put some white vinegar in the water tank if you like. Vinegar is an excellent natural remedy for rot and mildew. Check to see if the business you wish to employ utilizes green solutions and detergent — many experts do these days, but double-check. Woolen Carpet And Rug Cleaning Tips

Wool floor coverings contribute significantly to your living room. They make your house much more comfortable and luxurious. One advantage of wool rugs is that they are manufactured from a natural material. That, for some reason, makes them even softer and more comfortable to walk on. They could also have a very long life span if properly maintained. That is why it is critical to understand how to care for wool carpets and rugs to get the most out of them.

Woolen Carpet and Rug Cleaning Tips

First and foremost, you must ensure that you are appropriately equipped for the task. The following is a list of items that will come in helpful while cleaning wool floor coverings:

• A Vacuum Cleaner

• A Gentle laundering detergent or a DIY solution if you prefer eco-friendly items

• A Bucket

• A Sponge

• Towels or clean cloths should be white.

Now that you’re adequately prepared for the task let’s get to work.

Here’s our advice woolen carpets and rugs cleaning tips:

1. First and foremost, if feasible, take your floor covering outdoors and shake it vigorously to remove any loose dirt from the fibers. If it doesn’t work, try hanging it from a railing or something and whacking it with a flat-headed sweeping brush.

2. Now, use a vacuum to remove any dust that has become embedded in the carpet’s fiber.

3. Get your bucket and fill it with cold water next. Then, mix in a capful of your mild washing detergent.

4. Now is the time to soak. Take your sponge and submerge it in the water. There’s no need to apply too much moisture, just enough to keep the rug wet but not soggy. With your sponge and soapy water, begin working from the corners inwards.

5. Fill your bucket with clean water after rinsing it out. Rinse the soapy water out of your carpet with this.

6. Finally, pull out your dry towels and soak up as much moisture as you can. After that, place your carpet somewhere to dry. It’s best if you don’t put it in direct sunshine because it will fade the colours.

Professional Advice of Woolen Carpets and Rugs cleaning Tips

Now it’s not all about the cleaning. There are a few things that every proud wool carpet and rug owner should be aware of when it comes to caring for their wool carpets and rugs.

• Woollen rugs and carpets shed a lot when they are new. For the first month or so, regular vacuuming will assist. Until the shedding slows down, we recommend doing it no more than twice a week. After that, once or twice a month should enough.

• On your wool carpet, avoid using a strong vacuum cleaner since it may create excessive shedding. Placing a sock over the end of the suction pipe helps to reduce suction force somewhat.

• When cleaning your wool floor coverings, never use too much water. It has the potential to harm the fibers. Use only as much as is required, and no more.

• A firm brush can be used to remove pet hair that has been lodged between the wool fibers. Always brush in the direction of the carpet’s nap.

• Do you have stains and spots on your rug? Don’t wash the entire item. Instead, deal with the dirty area. Wool rugs should not be over-washed. If things do not appear to be going well, it may be good to hire expert carpet cleaners to assist with the problem.

• Vacuum the underside once or twice a month.

• Snow is an ancient practice that several people still use to clean their wool. It is supposed to freeze germs and destroy them in the process.

Carpet Cleaning Tips: Getting Rid of a Red Wine Stain

Having visitors over is a lot of fun. At dinner gatherings, we all enjoy a great old bottle of red wine. However, things might go awry from time to time. Whether it’s due to a clumsy adult at the table, youngsters were rushing about, or dogs are leaping up at the visitors. When you wind up with a large spot of red wine on the carpet, we all know it’s a terrible sign. But don’t worry. With this simple red wine stain removal guide, you’ll have that stain gone in no time. There are three techniques for attempting to remove stains listed below. You may even use these techniques on certain types of furniture.

Using a Stain Remover to Clean a Red Wine Stain

The majority of individuals have a specific stain-removal solution at home. Follow these steps to begin the red wine stain removal process correctly:

• First and foremost, get some paper towels. Blot up as much excess liquid as you can. You don’t want to make it worse by scrubbing it.

• Get a clean towel and a basin of cold water. Dab as much as you can without spreading it. Also, keep in mind the sort of carpet you have; you don’t want to wind up harming it with too much wetness. Natural fibre carpets, such as wool rugs, may not be able to withstand the dampness.

• It’s time to get your stain-removal product out. Follow the label’s directions to the letter. You may need to repeat this a few times because red wine is notoriously difficult to remove. However, if this doesn’t work, don’t keep trying. Contact expert carpet cleaners for advice on how to continue.

• After the carpet has dried, vacuum it to ensure that it does not become dirty.

Remove Red Wine Stains with White Wine and Bicarb Soda

You can attempt this approach in case you don’t have any stain removal goods at home. White wine and baking soda are all needed for the elimination of red wine stains.

• Pour some dry white wine over the discoloration (never use sweet wine for this). This will aid in diluting the red wine. If you happen to have some vodka on hand, that will also suffice.

• Blot up as much of the liquid as you can. Use a sponge and bucket or paper towels to clean.

• Pour a generous amount of baking soda over the discoloration and let it absorb overnight.

• You should now be able to vacuum up the soda bicarb.

Using Dish Soap and Hydrogen Peroxide to Remove Red Wine Stains from Carpets

We’d want to issue a warning before you get started on this one. Hydrogen peroxide can be used as a bleaching agent. We advise against utilizing your carpet if it is bright and colorful. At this point, it is preferable to contact a professional cleaning service to handle the situation.

• Using paper towels, blot out as much moisture as possible (if the stain is still fresh). A clean white cloth may also suffice.

• Get some cold water and a rag. Continue blotting with the cloth until no more wine is transferred to it. You don’t want to aggravate the situation by rubbing.

• Squeeze a small amount of dish soap and hydrogen peroxide onto the discoloration. We propose combining one part hydrogen peroxide with two parts water.

• Now, take a clean towel and blot until there is no more transfer.

• If there are remains of the stain after this, grab some soapy water and wipe until you can’t lift it anymore.

• Now, thoroughly cleanse the area with cold water

How to Get Rid of Tea and Coffee Stains on Carpet

Spilled tea and coffee are typical occurrences in most houses. Who doesn’t like a good cup of coffee to start the day? Exactly. That’s why we asked our stain-removal experts to assist us in putting together this advice on how to clear tea and coffee stains on carpets. You may apply the same approach to upholstery cleaning, but remember to always read the labels of your furniture before attempting a DIY cleaning project on it. Nobody wants to wind up causing damage to their furniture.

Before You Begin, Consider These Pro Tips:

There are a few things you should consider before you start. Here’s what experts have to say about it:

  • Tea and coffee stains are known as tannin stains (not decaf, since these beverages create dye stains) — a stain that causes yellow to brown stains.
Because of the tannin, the stain must be removed with an acidic stain remover.
  • However, if your hot beverage contains milk, you will need to apply a protein stain remover.
  • Bleach should not be used. You will ruin your furniture/carpet
  • If your carpet or upholstery fabric is composed of natural fibers, such as wool, do not attempt a home repair. It is best to consult a professional for this one because they are easily damaged and problematic to remove tannin stains off, even for specialists.
  • If the stain has dried, do not attempt a home remedy since even professionals cannot guarantee a 100 percent positive outcome in this case.

How to Get Rid of Tea and Coffee Stains on Carpet

1. Rinse the area with cool water first (if feasible, as not all materials are resistant to moisture). This will assist in lifting as much as possible before proceeding to use your stain removal solutions.

2. If you were successful in the first step, you may want to soak up as much moisture as possible with absorbent cloths or towels.

3. If your tea or coffee had milk, use a protein stain spotter before proceeding to the following step.

4. It’s time to get your stain-removal product out. We recommend that you search for a product with an acidic pH. Alternatively, you may prepare your stain remover with vinegar or citrus products.

5. Use a clean towel or sponge to dab the area after applying your product. This procedure may need to be repeated several times until the stain lifts entirely or stops lifting.

6. Finally, rinse thoroughly with cold water.

Of course, this approach may not always be practical. It is important to remember that if you try DIY solutions, and they don’t work, it may impede the pros when they get to it. As a result, you should always think about whether you are willing to accept the danger.

The Easiest Ways to Remove Grease Stains

Grease stains can be a real nuisance. They can destroy carpets, furniture, vehicle seats, clothing, and who knows what else. It’s terrible when you damage the interior of your home with such unsightly spots. Furthermore, because they soak in and cling, they invite a slew of dangerous germs into your house. It’s considerably worse if you live in a rented house. You don’t want to lose your security deposit because of a few spills. And we all know that grease, whether fresh or dry, can be challenging to work with. That is why we have created this foolproof advice on how to remove grease stains properly.

What to Do Before Starting the Process

Before we begin cleaning, let’s go through the supplies you’ll need. You can ensure that you have everything on hand this way.

• A Vacuum Cleaner

• A roll of kitchen paper or other absorbent paper

• Dishwashing soap (any brand will suffice)

• Talcum powder/baking soda

• A clean cloth for washing and another for drying

• Scrubbing brush with a soft bristle

• A diluted ammonia solution

How to Remove Dried Grease Stains Correctly

We’ll start with dried oil stains because they’re commonly overlooked. You never know where or what your children have gotten their greasy hands on. Even though it can be difficult, don’t panic; here’s how to clean rugs, furniture, and other materials:

1. Grab your kitchen towel and a bowl of hot, soapy water.

2. Dampen the stain and then use dry, absorbent towels to remove as much of it as possible.

3. It’s now time to use your baking soda. Sprinkle a good quantity over the stain and leave it for about an hour.

4. It’s time to vacuum up the leftovers.

5. Using a clean towel, wipe away the soapy, hot water. Then set aside to dry.

6. There should only be faint remnants of the stain at this stage. It’s time to get your ammonia solution ready.

7. 1 teaspoon of household ammonia and a 1/4 cup warm water are recommended.

8. Take a cloth and begin blotting softly. If the cloth is not water-resistant, avoid soaking the region.

9. Begin cleaning the area with a scrubbing brush, exerting slight pressure. Take care not to harm the fabric.

10. That should get the job done. Get a clean basin of water and a new, clean towel to cleanse the spot thoroughly. Then, take a dry towel and absorb as much of the extra moisture as you can.

Cleaning Fresh Grease Stains Correctly

Get some paper towels if you were lucky enough to detect the stain in time. Soak up as much grease as you can, but whatever you do, don’t rub. For 20 minutes, cover the area with a paper towel.

Now liberally apply your baking soda/talcum powder to the stain.

Clean up your dry component using a vacuum.

If the stain is still visible, it’s time to break out the dishwashing liquid. Squirt a slight amount onto the spill and dab with a wet towel.

The cloth should now be rinsed and blotted dry using an absorbent towel.

10 Professional Cleaning Hacks for Cleaning your Home

1. When you’re a pro, cleaning efficiently is just as vital as cleaning effectively. Divide and conquer your tasks, and plan your strategy. Clean someplace else after soaking anything that needs to soak (such as the shower walls and toilet).

2. By tying a plastic bag filled with warm white vinegar over the taps and shower kit and leaving it overnight, you may clean the deposits off of them. A zip tie may be required for a bigger shower head to keep it secure.

3. Keep to the basics when it comes to oven cleaning: baking soda and vinegar are highly effective, environmentally friendly, and don’t leave a strong odor in our customers’ homes.

4. To restore the luster of your vent hood filter, soak it in hot water with a Borax alternative.

5. Clean your wooden chopping boards, butcher blocks, and even the sinks with a lemon slice and baking soda. Spray the area with baking soda and wash the dirt away with the wedge of lemon as a sponge.

6. After you clean the trash, the entire room will smell better. Apply a toilet cleaner thoroughly, then soak, scrape, then soak in hot water before rinsing.

7. To reduce the quantity of dirt brought in and eliminate any lingering musty odors, clean doormats thoroughly and on a regular basis.

8. Having trouble dusting lampshades? Instead, use a lint roller to do the job.

9. Scrub the tiles in the kitchen as frequently as you clean the tiles in the shower. It may appear easy, but the impact this neglected activity brings to the overall ‘clean’ sensation will astound you!

10. Every time you clean, run a microfiber cloth along with the kitchen cabinets – you’ll see how your home turns from clean enough to professionally cleaned in no time!
