The Holiday Season Is Over Get Your Office Space Cleaned By Professionals

Now that the holiday season is over and done with, it’s time to hit the reset button and clear out all the festive gloss that was plastered across your workplace. After the decorations, the parties, and the cookies have come and gone, the decorations must come down and the mess must soberly be addressed. Returning to a clean office space after the chaos of the holidays can be invigorating and refreshing, and the task of restoring it can serve as a direct representation of getting back on track in the new year.

First and foremost, start by tackling the decorations. Remember, this doesn’t need to be a rushed, anxious task. Take your time, lose yourself in all the tiny details, and relive the festivities while you rewind the clock. Once the banners and tinsel have been removed, the work really begins. The first and foremost order of business should be the general cleanup of the physical space. Obviously, much of the holiday cheer was scattered throughout the vicinity, so during the cleanup process, be sure to remove any stray snowflakes and other décor that has been hidden away or left behind.

Once the decorations have been tidied away and the physical space has been addressed, tackle the desktops and tabletops – now is your chance to showcase the full breadth of your organizational system. Start by discarding any unnecessary papers and documents that may have found their way onto desktops, and move onto the drawer space. Clear out any old pens, paperclips, and other items that you may have stashed away during the holidays. You may find yourself tossing out some documents in the process, but it’s better to practice the “less is more” method of organization, which will make your work area look more orderly and well-managed.

The next step is to address the more mundane task of wiping down all surfaces. This is an absolute must following such a celebratory period – party remnants will be all over the place, ranging from grease marks to sticky residue and other less glamorous remnants of the holiday season. Put on your cleaning gloves and face mask, and make sure to get down into each and every single nook and cranny that your workplace has to offer. And remember, don’t forget the windows and windowsills, too!

Finally, give your office space an air freshener spritz before clearing out the dust that has left its mark on bookcases and desktops. This mini spa treatment will help to bring your office back its former glory and make it pleasant for you and your coworkers.

In conclusion, now that the holiday season is over and done with, it is time to take back your office space and bring it back to a fully functioning state. Remove all unnecessary decorations, organize the physical workspace and discard items that are no longer needed, clean all surfaces and remove sticky residue, and freshen up the air to bring back the classic vibe

7 Workplace Organization and Cleaning Habits

Working with a cluttered desk hinders my productivity. It has become obvious that it’s necessary to develop some new behaviors in order to find things and not be overwhelmed by clutter. According to research, it takes 21 days to develop a new habit, so commitment to following these practices for three weeks, and sure enough, your office would become a cleaner, more organized space!

Control Paper Clutter

Papers lead to clutter, which leads to a cluttered, unproductive environment. Store all of your stray documents in a file on top of the desk, which you go through every day. That way, if you need to get rid of something or relocate it to a more permanent position, you can either do so or destroy it.

Perpendicular and parallel

Before departing for the day,  line everything up parallel and perpendicular on my desk. This sort of organization is visually appealing and makes the space feel less crowded. As a result, when you get to work each morning, you have an orderly desk everything is in its place.

Wires and chargers should be hidden

Whether it’s going wireless on your keyboard and mouse or simply disguising existing cables in your area, a cord-free environment can drastically improve how clean and neat your place seems. There are a lot of smart devices on the market to assist corral and conceal cables, and utilizing something like a docking station for your cell phone would naturally hide these eyesores as well.

Coffee Cups and Water Bottles

These things have a way of lingering after they’ve been completed. Most offices have a handful of Starbucks cups or dirty ceramic mugs on their desks. Be cautious when disposing of these or returning them to the break room and washing them.

Daily Clutter Removal

Everything in your workplace should have a home, and if it doesn’t, you should either find one for it (ideally out of sight) or get rid of it. Make a thorough sweep of your desktop before you leave each night and return everything to its rightful position; this way, you’ll wake up to a clean workstation.

Cleaning of Spots

Get a general-purpose microfiber cloth ( Maker’s mini takes up less room) on the desk, along with a tiny spray bottle of all-purpose cleaning. This foresight enables you to swiftly spot clean all of the surfaces in your workspace desk, mouse, lamp, and so on—as well as all of the displays, which eventually accumulate dust and fingerprints.

List of Tasks

Finally, while this isn’t really linked to cleaning, it is related to the organization. Create a running to-do list of everything you need to get done that day, including any one-time cleaning chores. This may seem self-evident, but it keeps one on track: what gets scheduled gets done!

These all appear to be easy things, but implementing them on a daily basis can be difficult. Give it the 21-day treatment, and I guarantee you’ll have a much cleaner and more organized, not to mention productive, workplace environment.
